I want you to close your eyes and picture your childhood bedroom. The image may be clear or hazy. There is no right or wrong way to remember. Notice the feelings that are being created and observe them with tenderness. This is Where I Grew Up: A Diorama Workshop.
In this 4 week workshop I’ll help participants envision their childhood bedrooms through writing prompts, exploration of the feelings related to that space, and ultimately the construction of a diorama of your childhood bedroom. Some may choose to create a faithful reenactment and for others it may be an opportunity to design the bedroom they always wanted but never had. As with all my workshops no level of art making skill is required. All I ask of participants is to come with honesty and openness, to make space for play and laugh when things do not go as planned, to witness other’s experiences, and hold space for them without judgment.
This workshop is limited to 12 participants and is held live via GoogleMeet on a weekly basis. To participate you must be able to attend the workshop at the listed time, sessions are not recorded to protect the privacy of the participants. Art supplies are not provided by the workshop facilitator, but cost effective and household objects may be used to create accessibility. Please email me if you have any additional questions.
